At Vano, we try to make fitness, yoga and self-development simple for everyone to understand. As part of that, we like to share practitioners’ stories worldwide, so people can see how simple it is to get started and the benefits they can achieve. Today’s topic is Katja’s self discovery
We recently talked to Katja about her exercise and yoga journey
Katja knew something was wrong in her life. She felt tired, stressed, irritable, fatigued — and yet when she tried to think of a reason, she couldn’t pinpoint anything specific. There was some stress at work, but generally, she enjoyed it. Her relationship was a happy one. She had great friends and family.
Eventually, Katja decided that it must have been something internal rather than external. Something about her lifestyle wasn’t quite working for her. She needed a change — and rediscovered herself by simple fitness exercises
When did you start, and why?
I started my Self-Development story about five years ago. I had an excellent job and was in a good relationship — still am! — and everything was going great, but I just felt … bad all the time. Like I’d be tired or feel like I woke up on the wrong side of the bed day after day
A friend of mine had actually started doing some basic fitness exercises and Yoga a few months before me and said it had really made a difference in her day-to-day life. She was focused; happier, and was more productive.
So I went with her to a class, and the rest is history.
What do you like about Yoga?
I love how it combines physical fitness and a kind of meditation at the same time. My body gets healthier and more reliable, while my mind gets clearer.
I also really like how easy it is to fit into my schedule. Going to classes is excellent, but I can absolutely throw down a yoga mat in my living room and do 20 minutes when I need to at the end of a long day. It’s so convenient, and I find it’s the best way to detoxify from work stress.
How has your view on life changed?
Wow, where do I start?
I think the first thing I noticed was that I was stressing a lot less at work. Deadlines didn’t worry me as much as they did.
Stressing less has made me feel a lot more positive in general. I feel like I can achieve more since I’m better focused and getting more done. Getting more done makes me more optimistic about what I can achieve in my life. My goals seem more achievable than ever now, you know?
I sleep a lot better, so I wake up feeling fresh and rested and I don’t dread Mondays! I don’t live for the weekend, so I’m just enjoying life more in general. And I think that the way Self – Discovery works is to find an optimal balance between body and mind and that only you can decide if you are feeling Happy!
Do you have goals you want to accomplish?
As in yoga goals? Definitely! I really want to be able to do a handstand and I want to lose 5 kilos which involves running 3 times a week!. That’s my next goal. I’m currently training it a little bit every day. My crow pose is getting very stable. I can hold it for a minute or so now, so I’m confident I’ll get there soon.
How has Vano helped you in your Self Discovery journey?
I really love your Products! The Seamless sets are extremely comfortable, and I bought them all because they are so affordable! My biggest goal was to achieve full self-discovery over myself!
I’ve achieved a lot of things I didn’t think I would’ve done due to Vano. The blogs are super helpful for motivation and keeping track of things.
Do you have any advice for people considering exercising?
Just do it! You’ll wish you started sooner. You’ll be fitter, you’ll feel better, you’ll stress less, love more. It’s great. Just begin, find a beginner course, find an online course if you want,… start!
